This fall please join us in celebrating the work of Johann Pisendel. We are planning a series of events including a recording, masterclass, and concert program featuring Pisendel's four sinfonias for strings, brass, and wind instruments.
Bacchanalia is an early music group devoted to spirited interpretations of baroque, classical, and modern music on period instruments. Featuring repertoire for winds and strings, Bacchanalia expands or contracts to accommodate their repertoire.
Formed by flutist and director Laura Thompson, Bacchanalia gave their debut performance at the Boston Early Music Festival in 2002, and has been heard at numerous venues in the New York area and beyond ever since.
Dedicated to bringing early music to a wider audience, Bacchanalia hosts performances at non-traditional venues, library story-time readings, school presentations, and outdoor community events in addition to hosting a traditional evening concert series in NYC.
The group is named after the mythic festivals held in ancient Greece celebrating Bacchus, the god of wine, revelry, and fun, and reflects the determination of its members to combine musicological research with a fresh and unrestricted approach to music.
Your contribution will enable us to support our musicians and continue to operate. We are very grateful for your generosity.
